The Federal Government has set up a new national bushfire mitigation program, with the budget allocating $5 million a year for three years to the project.

The measure delivers on an election commitment and will go to the states and territories “to implement long-term bushfire mitigation strategies and better fuel reduction programs”, according to the budget papers.
