Brokers to be surveyed on climate change
Zurich Financial Services and the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) want to know what brokers think about climate change and how it affects them and their clients.
The Climate Risk Survey will be launched early next month to find out attitudes to risks and opportunities arising from climate change, how significant the impacts are for brokers and their businesses, and if brokers are equipped to help their clients deal with climate change issues.
Zurich GM General Insurance Andrew Barrowman says the insurance industry can play a strong role in increasing its own and society’s resilience to climate change risks.
“The survey will give us insights on brokers’ views and allow us to point our education and initiatives in the right direction,” he said.
NIBA President Steve Lardner says brokers need to be aware of the risks and develop ways to pass that knowledge on to clients.
The findings will be presented at the NIBA Convention in September.
