Broker wins award named in honour of late mentor
A young Victorian broker has paid tribute to her late mentor after winning an excellence award named in his honour.
Grampians Insurance Brokers broker assistant Elisha Reid was named winner of the 2009 Norm Dyer Award of Excellence at the Insight Insurance Brokers Association annual conference earlier this month.
It was Mr Dyer who gave Ms Reid her start in the industry.
“He employed me straight out of high school as a trainee,” she said. “He took a chance to hire me and now I’m only months away from being a fully qualified broker.”
The Ararat mother of two works four days a week for Grampians and is also completing a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) through NIBA College.
Insight Executive Officer Bill Friend described Ms Reid as an intelligent, efficient professional.
“She’s a great example of what can be achieved if you approach your job with dedication and integrity.”
