Broker share remains strong
Analysts are predicting commercial distribution channels will remain dominated by insurance brokers into the foreseeable future.
The latest JP Morgan/Deloitte General Insurance Industry Survey says brokers are expected to retain about 71% of commercial business over the next two years.
The survey, which analyses information taken from underwriters and insurers, predicts brokers will have some of their market share eroded in the next five years to 69%, but JP Morgan's Shane Fitzgerald says this is unlikely to occur.
"Underwriters always like to believe their share of commercial distribution will rise and the brokers' share will fall," he told Sunrise Exchange News. "But this never happens."
Insurance brokers' share of personal lines is predicted to stay at 17% of the total market over the next five years.
