BOM releases cyclone awareness video
The Bureau of Meteorology has produced an educational video as part of its cyclone awareness campaign.
Community resilience starts with the knowledge to prepare early and act appropriately when cyclone warnings are issued, the bureau says.
Its tropical cyclone outlook, released earlier this month, predicts a below-average number of events this season due to the influence of El Nino.
But Deputy Director Rob Webb says that is no reason for complacency.
“It’s not the number we’ll remember, it’s the impacts,” he said.
“Even one tropical cyclone can have a significant impact, particularly if it makes landfall in a heavily populated region or an area vulnerable to storm surge and flooding.”
