APRA awards students with scholarships
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has awarded scholarships worth $12,500 each to four students under the annual Brian Gray Scholarship Program. The students are studying issues related to prudential regulation.
The recipients are actuary Sam Killmier from the University of Melbourne; economist Phong Ngo from the Australian National University, Canberra; lawyer/actuary Michael O’Neill from the Australian National University; and business studies graduate Evan Reedman from the Queensland University of Technology.
This year’s program involves an assessment of the asset selection techniques used by superannuation funds and catastrophe modelling in general insurance. The program was established by APRA and the Reserve Bank of Australia in 2002 in memory of former APRA Executive GM Brian Gray, who spent more than 20 years shaping regulatory policy for the financial services industry.
