APIG makes noise over PI

The Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG) is holding a seminar on Wednesday featuring a range of speakers who will be able to give their views from both sides of the professional indemnity fence.

The five speakers include Enzo Raiomondo, CEO of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, Darryl Roberts, General Manager Rehabilitation and Enforcement at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, Gary Gribbin, CEO of Professional Insurance Australia, Peter Laming, GM-PI at QBE Insurance and Andries Terblanche, Senior Insurance Partner at KPMG.

Mr Raiomondo told Sunrise Exchange News that since the fall of HIH, the real estate industry has struggled to find alternative insurance. “If we did find cover it was full of exclusions, and the price increased dramatically,’ he said. “And of course the cost is then passed on to consumers.”

He said the association did look at forming a captive insurance company, but has since arranged cover through brokers or overseas insurers.
