David Chan of Guild Insurance has been awarded the Aon Re Scholarship for 2007. He will travel to London next month to attend the Aon Re Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar.

The scholarship, which is presented in association with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, provides insurance and reinsurance professionals with an insight into the insurance industry on a global scale.

This year applicants were required to submit a 2500-word essay on post-disaster demand surge and how insurance can help society balance the needs of rapid rebuilding, cost control and the allocation of dollars after a disaster.

Submissions by Ben Crighton of Vero Insurance and Tracey Martin of Guild Insurance were highly commended.
