ANZIIF careers initiative touts ‘sexy side’ of insurance
The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has launched its largest ever career initiative to address the skills shortage and attract more talent to the insurance industry.
ANZIIF has mailed 100,000 booklets to every high school and university in Australia as part of the initiative, marketing what it calls “the sexy side” to working in insurance.
The booklet highlights the fast and radically changing demand for insurance, showcasing the innovative and custom covers insurers provide for unusual risks.
These include successful racehorses, jewellery worn at the Oscars and global warming.
ANZIIF CEO Joan Fitzpatrick says “the war for talent” is a concern facing insurance companies around the world.
She says the biggest hurdle in attracting talent is the lack of understanding of insurance itself, and the opportunities the industry offers.
“Insurance jobs are well paid and the rewards are great,” she said.
ANZIIF has set up a website at www.careersininsurance.com.au which provides an overview of the insurance industry and describes the various kinds of roles available.
