ANZ’s home and contents policy offers the best coverage and is the only product on the market that includes total replacement as standard, according to Choice.

The cover, from subsidiary OnePath, tops the consumer group’s latest chart for home insurance products with a score of 89 out of 100.

“Essentially, the higher the score the greater the policy’s coverage,” Choice says in its magazine. “This policy is for those who want all the bells and whistles.”

Choice graded 51 policies offered by 25 insurers according to events, building, contents, public liability, accidental damage and other features.

Only 44 policies have made the final list, which has a cut-off score of 55.

“In total, we collect more than 4000 quotes, with the rating based on the average premium in each state across four scenarios with a mix of household types,” Choice says.

CGU’s accidental damage home cover ranks second (scoring 80), followed by Citiban k’s prestige cover (76), Territory Insurance Office’s premium policy (75) and GIO’s platinum product (74).
