AMA survey shows doctors are reducing services
A survey by the AMA has found that one in four GPs are cutting back services due to the medical indemnity crisis. The survey of 118 GPs found that 24% have been forced to cut back on patient care, have stopped or reduced their procedural work (obstetrics, surgery or casualty work), reduced their patient intake, or stopped bulk billing in the past 12 months.
The survey also found that 71% have increased or will increase patient fees to cover the increased cost of medical indemnity premiums.
