John Hastings, joint founder of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA), has been awarded the AIDA medal by the International Association for Insurance Law at its recent conference in New York.

The third Australian recipient and Australia’s first non-judicial recipient, Mr Hastings won the award for his contribution to insurance law and commitment to the association’s goals.

Mr Hastings was the first national secretary for AILA after he was invited to form the Australian branch in 1982.
