Adler’s supporters flock to court

Former HIH Director Rodney Adler has finally begun the sentencing hearing which will determine the punishment he’ll receive for his part in HIH’s $5.3 billion collapse.

Yesterday Mr Adler fronted the NSW Supreme Court for the first day of his three-day sentencing hearing.

Each of the four criminal charges Mr Adler has been convicted of carries a maximum penalty of five years’ jail and fines from $22,000 to $110,000.

Being the first HIH executive to face real jail time, media spectators predict Mr Adler might become “a sacrificial lamb” in the case.

Testimonials included those from Sydney Children’s Hospital Executive Director Professor Les White, a rabbi, a priest and members of the public described as people Mr Adler had helped.

Sunrise Exchange News will keep you posted on the case.
