Adler faces new jail charges
Evidence last week that former HIH director Rodney Adler was conducting business from his Sydney prison cell has already seen him moved to another higher-security prison, and it has also seen him facing charges relating to the breach of three prison rules.
Although the Australian Securities and Investments Commission said last week that Mr Adler hasn’t breached his 20-year ban on managing corporations by getting business information in jail, the NSW Department of Corrections says he nonetheless breached prison rules.
The department says he sent or received unauthorised letters, created or possessed prohibited goods and disobeyed a direction from the Governor of Kirkconnell Correctional Centre.
Mr Adler – who has already pleaded not guilty – will face an internal hearing in Bathurst jail. While he won’t have access to a lawyer, he will have to the opportunity to question witnesses.
