Dear reader,

This is the final Monday edition of for 2020, with our Daily update service continuing through to Friday. The Daily will be back in action from January 18, with the weekly returning on February 1.

During the recess our Breaking News service will continue to operate, keeping you informed of any important industry developments.

Massive natural catastrophes, a pandemic and lockdowns have made 2020 a year we won’t soon forget, but in all the uncertainty we took heart from the fact that so many people made their go-to place for industry news and information. journalists worked through the lockdowns to keep our far-flung national (and global) audience updated on industry issues that came thick and fast. The value of what we do is reflected in the figures recorded so far this year – 7,481,896 pageviews (812,000 more than last year) from 841,802 individuals who made 2,168,225 visits.

Today has exactly 29,227 online subscribers, supplemented by 35,643 followers on LinkedIn, and several thousand more on other social media channels.

Including today’s bulletin, this year we have published just over 2700 articles on a vast range of insurance-related subjects. Add to that 26 Breaking News bulletins and 54 live blog posts from important events, and I can confidently state no competitor comes close.

A very large industry audience is a big advantage for advertisers, which is just as well because without advertisers there would be no We thank them for their continuing support and urge readers to support them in turn by clicking through to their sites – often!

Thanks also to all those people who have helped us through the year with comments and tip-offs on and off the record. You trust us to handle information responsibly, and along the way you’ve helped build its reputation as the go-to source of trusted and timely insurance industry news and information.

My personal thanks to the exceptional journalists and support staff who kept ticking along in a very difficult period. They join me in offering our best wishes to you for a safe, healthy and happy festive season.
