Timely life insurance conference for industry

The Financial Services Council (FSC) Life Insurance Conference next month will provide the industry with regulatory updates and industry trends, according to CEO John Brogden.

“It’s an opportunity for people in the guts of the industry to share ideas,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“The conference will also provide the industry opportunities for regulatory updates.”

The Sydney conference will be occurring close to when the Federal Government releases its draft legislation for financial service reforms.

Speakers will include Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Executive Member Ian Laughlin and the Acting Director-General of the Association of British Insurers, Maggie Craig.

Mr Brogden says the council has been pleased at attracting such an important overseas speaker for a one-day conference.

“We also have high-level input from the industry as well as government and regulatory speakers.”

Mr Brogden says the life industry is facing issues ranging from capital adequacy to questions over adviser remuneration and underinsurance.

“Our object is now is to make the life conference an annual event.”
