TAL tweaks health program to encourage screening

TAL says its preventative health program has been updated to make it easier for life policyholders to get premium discounts.

Under the improved Health Sense Plus program, insureds no longer need to provide their body mass index details or upload evidence of taking a preventative test to qualify for a lower premium.

“The changes we’ve made to Health Sense Plus are based on feedback from customers and advisers, and designed to increase discount uptake, enhance loyalty and encourage healthy behaviours,” GM individual life product Aaron Newman said.

“We want more customers to benefit from screening tests, which can detect and prevent many serious conditions including cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

“We also hope to help advisers initiate more conversations with clients around the benefits of holistic health and the value of maintaining their insurance cover.”

TAL launched the program in 2019, giving eligible customers a 5% discount on their lump sum premiums every two years when they undertake routine screenings such as skin cancer checks.

The discount is available to customers with accelerated protection insurance, purchased through their financial adviser or directly from the insurer.
