TAL rolls out adviser support initiatives

TAL will introduce a quicker way to upgrade cover next month, as part of a new support package for advisers facing reduced revenue.

Cover Upgrade Express will let an adviser increase a client’s policy by 25% without any underwriting, by activating a “guaranteed future insurability” feature.

Once the change is made, the adviser can check the amount of extra revenue they will earn.

In November TAL will introduce personalised marketing flyers for advisers, which can be created on the insurer’s Local Area Marketing website.

The flyers address common insurance misconceptions and promote the value of protection.

All material will be white label, so advisers can add their own logos and profiles.

Also in November TAL will introduce online pre-assessment requests, stored in a central repository to let underwriters review and respond to potential applications.

The insurer will create a new online assessment form to include medical and financial information.

The package of new initiatives will cost TAL $150 million over five years.

GM Retail Distribution Niall McConville says the insurer understands the significant changes facing advisers and wants to help practices through this phase.

“Our partnership with advisers is part of our culture at TAL, and this partnership deserves commitment at every level of our business,” he said.

“Life companies and advisers need to become more efficient if we are to provide a better experience for consumers.

“The future may have some challenges, but in my opinion, if we all work together, the future has more opportunities than challenges.”

TAL has created a website to explain the initiatives and let advisers leave comments.

“We have launched a site to be transparent and held accountable to our commitments,” Mr McConville said. “Advisers know their business better than anyone, and the site allows advisers to submit and vote on ideas, as well as see what is already under way.”
