TAL offers ethics code program for advisers

Life insurer TAL is introducing a new education program to help advisers understand the Financial Planners and Advisers Code of Ethics.

GM Retail Sales and New Business Beau Riley says Ethics Month has been created to support advisers in their compliance with the ethics code and will be offered next month by its TAL Risk Academy.

“This series will offer insights and tools which can be applied in practical, real-world scenarios, giving all participants the opportunity to develop their critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills to better serve their clients,” he said.

“The courses have been developed to give advisers access to our technical team’s expertise and insights around how to navigate and comply with the Code of Ethics, ensuring the best outcomes for clients.”

The Financial Planners and Advisers Code of Ethics 2019 is a set of standards and core values designed to encourage higher standards of behaviour and professionalism for financial advisers.

It was developed by the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) as part of reforms introduced to the profession a few years ago and has applied to advisers since January 2020.
