TAL joins UN sustainability initiative
TAL Life has joined the United Nations Principles for Sustainable Insurance group.
It is the first Australian life insurer to sign up with the program, which aims to create a sustainability framework for the industry.
Chief Corporate Governance Officer Peter Noble will be TAL’s representative to the group.
“The initiative was launched last year but this year the work begins to bring [it] to life,” he said. “The meetings will focus on board members exploring risks but most importantly opportunities for environmental, social and governance issues to help build a sustainability road map.”
Mr Noble says he will push to promote greater awareness of environmental, social and governance matters among businesses and individuals.
He also wants greater collaboration in areas such as strengthening public institutions, enhancing data and privacy protection, improving governance in private corporations and continuing to address underinsurance.
