TAL is to let customers increase their cover online when certain life events occur.

Cover Upgrade Express allows changes to life, total and permanent disability and critical illness cover, through a feature called guaranteed future insurability.

Coverage increases can be prompted by 10 life events, such as buying a house, finishing a postgraduate degree or having a child.

GM Retail Distribution Niall McConville says the service is paperless.

“It is an easy, self-service, online process,” he said.

“Clients are notified of their eligibility at policy renewal time and can action their upgrade without new evidence of health or pastimes.”

The service also “provides an easy way for advisers to look after their existing clients”, Mr McConville says.

“Advisers know the lives of clients change and evolve, as do their insurance needs.

“This is an efficient service for advisers, cutting out additional paperwork for advisers and their clients.”

Cover Upgrade Express is available for eligible Accelerated Protection customers aged under 55.
