Super tribunal sees drop in death disputes

Death benefit distribution was the second-largest dispute category for the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (SCT) in the three months to December.

The issue accounted for 27.9% of complaints lodged, down from 38% in the previous quarter to September.

Disability complaints made up 18.8% of the total, rising from 14%. Overall, the number of complaints fell 9.7% to 111.

The SCT settled 28 of its 47 active death benefit disputes and four of the 15 disability complaints in the quarter.
