AIA Australia has received more than 800 applications lodged electronically through its LIFEapp portal.

The online portal was launched in July this year and includes a life insurance needs calculator, quoting tool and application documents. 

AIA Head of Group Insurance Stephanie Phillips says almost 50% of all LIFEapp applications submitted have been accepted without the need for underwriting, resulting in the applicant being insured automatically. 

“AIA is now even more confident that this validates technology as a key component to tackling Australia’s [life] underinsurance issue,” she said.

Ms Phillips says further education and awareness of such tools will help the take-up rates for superannuation fund members. 

AIA is shortly to roll out its online eClaims to streamline the group insurance claims process.

“As a partnering organisation, we will continue to develop technologies such as LIFEapp and eClaims to ensure we improve the way super funds and their members deal with life insurers,” she said.
