Shortage of financial planners in SA ‘severe’
South Australia is experiencing a talent crisis, with financial planner vacancies at an all-time high.
A report by recruitment specialist eJobs says the shortage in SA is not reflected across the rest of the country. While vacancies for financial planners in SA have increased 21.5% over the last year, nationwide the figure is just 9.4%.
“SA is still experiencing a drought of talent across the board,” the report says. “Regional job numbers are showing robust growth, with SA outpacing the rest of Australia, and in many ways defying the logic of current investment and economic market conditions.”
Despite the shortage, pay packages on offer in SA are the lowest in the country. The recruitment firm says some employers have unrealistic pay expectations, offering wages well below similar advertised jobs.
Entry-level financial planner roles have all but disappeared across the country, with most junior roles – paying from $35,000 in SA – seeking at least a year’s experience.
