Scor Global Life Australia names former Zurich exec as Chairman
Scor Global Life Australia has appointed Gavin Pearce as Chairman, taking over from Peter MacKenzie, who is retiring having served in the role since the board’s inception in 2011.
Mr Pearce was most recently chief operating officer for life and investments at Zurich Australia until his retirement in May this year.
Before Zurich, he spent more than 10 years with ANZ Bank (including as part of the former ING Australia and OnePath businesses), culminating in his role as managing director for insurance at ANZ Wealth.
He has also held a number of senior roles including as chief executive officer of Tower Australia Group’s Australian Investment Division, AMP General Insurance managing director and chief financial officer, GIO Australia chief executive officer and MetLife Insurance managing director.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have someone of [his] calibre leading our board,” Scor Global Life Australia CEO Dion Russell said.
“His life insurance expertise, long history of leadership and strategic thinking make him the ideal person for this role to support and oversee [us] through the next evolution of our business.”
Mr Pearce is set to start on June 28, pending necessary approvals of his appointment.
