Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) has appointed Peter Tan as COO Asia – a new role at the company’s Hong Kong head office.

Mr Tan joined RGA in 2009 as GM of the Hong Kong business, tasked with overseeing business development and expanding the group’s presence in southeast Asia.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in life insurance and asset management.

RGA Head of Asia Tony Cheng says Mr Tan will lead multiple functions and ensure the reinsurer’s practices are consistent across the region.

“Asia has been a significant growth engine for RGA due to the economic and social structural changes that have occurred in this region,” Mr Cheng said. “As a result, we have realigned our management team to increase our focus on providing services to our clients.”
