QBE Deputy Chairman Duncan Boyle has been appointed a director of life insurer TAL.

Mr Boyle was CEO of UK-based Royal & SunAlliance Insurance from 2002 to 2006 and served more than 30 years in the insurance industries of Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

He became an independent director of QBE in September 2006.

Mr Boyle replaces Dai-ichi Life senior executive Tatsusaburo Yamamoto, who has stepped down to take a new role with TAL’s Japanese parent in Tokyo.

Also joining the board is long-standing Dai-ichi Life group senior executive Norimitsu Kawahara.

Mr Kawahara has worked for Dai-ichi Life for more than 28 years and is currently MD of Dai-ichi Life International (Asia-Pacific).
