Specialist life insurer PPS Mutual has appointed two Chief Medical Officers,  John Cummins and Bill Monday.

They will provide the business with technical medical guidance to its life underwriting, product development and claims service divisions.

They will also assist the PPS Mutual Underwriting Department in conducting underwriting reviews of life insurance applications as well as provide input and advice on internal guidelines.

Dr Cummins has been working in the insurance sector since 2005, providing advice in a consultant capacity regarding risk of and prognosis for illness for underwriters and claims assessors.

Dr Monday has more than 30 years’ experience in the medical field, applying his knowledge to insurance medicine.

“It is vital that we have experts on hand to stay abreast of medical science and give appropriate advice to the team,” Head of Underwriting Marcello Bertasso said.

“Dr Cummins and Dr Monday bring a wealth of specialist medical skill and knowledge and we are confident that their expertise will help provide our members with additional security and peace of mind.”
