Planners take their message to MPs
The Financial Planning Association (FPA) is targeting federal parliamentarians in a campaign to explain their role.
Mindful that financial planning is in the spotlight, FPA members are meeting their local MPs to outline what they do for their clients.
FPA CEO Jo-anne Bloch says the response from the association’s members has been enthusiastic, and they are getting a good response from Federal parliamentarians.
“I think it’s an obvious thing to do at the moment, with financial planning very squarely on the agenda,” Ms Bloch told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
She says FPA sees the initiative as a natural follow-on from its formal written submission to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services that has examined the collapses of such companies as Storm Financial and Opes Prime.
“It’s an educative and informative process,” Ms Bloch said. “We’re not hassling members of parliament – it’s very positive.”
