New FPA chief focuses on consumer trust
The Financial Planning Association’s new CEO Dante De Gori says it is “business as usual” for the industry body.
“Our focus, dedication and drive to secure the right outcomes remains the same.
“Building consumer trust is a high priority, and something I am personally passionate about.
“[It] is not a short-term challenge, but it is key to financial planning as a profession – and in the best interests of the many Australians who need financial advice.”
Mr De Gori, who succeeds Mark Rantall, was previously head of policy at the association from 2010.
The FPA’s policy team has expanded with the appointment of Benjamin Marshan as Manager of Professional Standards and Advocacy, and Dimitri Diamantes as Policy Manager.
Mr De Gori says there are regulatory challenges ahead, particularly around the transition to new education requirements.
“I am very aware of the concerns our members have about current proposals. The FPA will continue to work closely with government to ensure that, collectively, our voice is heard.”
He says supporting members affected by the education changes is a priority.
“We will continue to do this through timely updates, practical resources, events such as the FPA National Roadshow, webinars and social media. I will be encouraging more feedback from members, with a view to using this… to get better and better at what we do.”
The roadshow starts on April 27 in Victoria and takes in 33 locations over the next couple of months.
