Life insurers will not see any impact on their businesses from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Every Australian Counts National Campaign Director John Della Bosca says.

“The NDIS scheme will have no impact on life insurers,” he told the Financial Services Council conference on the Gold Coast last week. 

“We are talking about a social safety net with government support.

“It is not a substitute for income protection insurance.”

TAL MD Jim Minto says the life insurance industry will have to wait and see how the scheme works before it will know if there is any impact.

“We need to consider how life insurance will work with the scheme,” he told the conference.
