NBNZ may sell life business

There’s speculation around the industry that the ANZ Banking Group is about to sell the life operations of its newest acquisition, the National Bank of New Zealand (NBNZ).

ANZ is obliged under the terms of a joint venture with ING to offer the business to ING Australia. But if the joint venture wants to dump the company, the business can be sold on the open market.

Analysts suggest the business is worth more than $100 million.
