MLC names new group insurance chief
MLC Life Insurance has appointed Mark Puli as Chief Group Insurance Officer, taking over from Sean Williamson who is leaving the business.
His appointment follows changes made to the structure of its life insurance division, which now sees the group insurance team becoming a separate, standalone function reporting directly to CEO Rodney Cook.
The retail insurance team remains in the life insurance, led by Chief Life Insurance Officer Michael Rogers.
Mr Puli, most recently chief executive of Emergency Services Superannuation Scheme (ESSSsuper), will join in late January.
“The life insurance industry continues to undergo significant change, particularly in group insurance,” Mr Cook said. “Given our ambition to grow our presence in the group market, the board and I believe the time is right for it to become a separate, standalone division, reporting directly to me.
“We believe this change will provide even stronger support for our existing and future group partners.”
He says Mr Puli brings a wealth of experience and depth of understanding about superannuation, group insurance, and how to provide the best experience for members to the business.
ESSSuper says GM Member Engagement David Daley has been appointed acting CEO while the business looks for Mr Puli’s replacement.
The fund says Mr Puli, who led the business as CEO for ten years, resigned from his position effective January 3.
