MLC Life Insurance announced today Chris Porter is joining the business as Head of Fund Partnerships.

He starts this week and will be based in Sydney, reporting to GM Fund Partnerships Emily Wu.

Mr Porter is former Executive Manager for Operations at MTAA Super, which now trades as Spirit Super following a merger with Tasplan last year.

His appointment follows a restructure announced late last year in which the Group Insurance team is now a separate, standalone unit headed by Chief Group Insurance Officer Mark Puli.

“[He] has significant experience in the sector, and I’m confident will play a key role in strengthening our partnerships with superannuation funds this year,” Mr Puli said.

“I believe we are poised to grow our presence in the market and take on the more dominant players in group insurance.

“Now that we are a separate, standalone function, and backed by strong talent, experience, and support from Nippon Life, we are confident we can support the needs of growing superannuation funds.”
