Minister, Lib frontbencher to front Q&A session with advisers
Financial Services Minister Stephen Jones is expected to provide an update on planned advice reforms at an industry gathering next month in Brisbane.
He will take part in a conversation and Q&A session on the final day of the Financial Advice Association Australia Congress from November 27-29.
Opposition financial services spokesperson Luke Howarth will also participate in the session, moderated by association CEO Sarah Abood.
“The session, Powering Up The Politics ... is an opportunity for both the minister and the shadow minister to update the profession on their views of how to address the challenges facing financial advisers,” FAAA said. “It will be the first time both politicians have addressed the profession at the same time, and comes ahead of the federal election, which will likely be held in the first half of next year.”
Ms Abood says the session will examine issues such as the rising cost of advice, falling numbers of advisers and the compensation scheme of last resort.
