MetLife Insurance continues to expand its Australian operations, announcing three senior appointments.

James Carey takes the newly created role of Head of Reinsurance and Regulatory Affairs. He joins from AIA, where he was head of the Vitality program.

Mr Carey will be responsible for developing and executing MetLife’s reinsurance strategy and ensuring the business is equipped to manage regulatory change.

Joining him is former Financial Services Council senior policy manager Holly Dorber, who becomes Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy.

Ms Dorber will be responsible for stakeholder engagement and strengthening MetLife’s ability to shape the policy environment.

Stephen Varney is the life insurer’s new Head of Individual Pricing and Affiliates, based in the Melbourne office.

He was director of pricing and reinsurance at AMP until 2014, and has spent the past two years as a consulting actuary.
