MetLife outlines environmental commitments in sustainability report
MetLife has released its 2022 Sustainability Report, focusing on steps it has taken towards environmental and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) commitments.
Among the noted achievements, the life insurer highlights $US37.4 million ($56.73 million) in grants awarded through its Economic Inclusion, Financial Health and Resilient Communities Portfolio and the securement of $US885 million ($1.3 billion) in DEI investments.
The report also emphasises MetLife’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 49% since 2019, with it maintaining carbon neutrality status since 2016.
For its Australian operations, MetLife outlines the relocation of its head office to Brookfield Place in Sydney, which has achieved a 6-star Green Star rating.
The firm also launched a second Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan to help support First Nations communities and $150,000 in support to Habitat for Humanity over the last three years.
MetLife President and CEO Michel Khalaf says the report showcases valuable insights as the life insurer continues to maintain its commitments to long-term sustainability.
“Our commitment to protecting families, businesses and communities underpins our purpose – always with you, building a more confident future – and allows us to make a greater difference,” he said.
