Job survey finds financial services in demand
Jobs in accounting and financial services are expected to experience the strongest demand in the next quarter, according to the latest quarterly TMP Worldwide Job Index. The survey by the country’s largest recruitment firm questioned more than 5,800 employers nationally.
It found an 11.2% increase in expected job opportunities in accounting and finance roles, and anticipated only 3.5% in job losses. The financial services sector reported an optimistic outlook with almost 90% of companies planning to hire or keep their workforce steady. Only 10.1% of employers had plans to downsize, with the majority (58.7%) keeping staff sizes the same and 29.7% expecting to hire.
Queensland’s financial services industry is expecting the largest increase in employment, with 41.1% of employers predicting increases. South Australia was found to be the slowest, reporting a drop in employment growth in financial services.
