Housework cover for injured mums
Suncorp life insurance subsidiary Million Dollar Woman is offering full-time mothers cover for housework and childcare if they are injured or fall ill.
In an Australian market first, Suncorp is offering cover for 2.1 million mothers nationwide who could claim up to $900 a week to pay someone else to do household chores such as the cooking and cleaning if they become incapacitated.
Suncorp’s research shows 1.2 million of the 8.6 million Australian women over the age of 18 are injured so badly they are unable to clean their home.
Million Dollar Woman CEO Lynette Argent says the unpaid work carried out by mothers “is crucial to the economy as it has traditionally allowed the primary breadwinner to dedicate themselves to their paid job”.
The cover will cost about $2.50 a day and provide up to 13 weeks of paid housework.
