FPA weighs up action against life adviser
The Financial Planning Association (FPA) is still considering what action to take over a NSW life insurance adviser who has been banned by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Former Synchron adviser Darren Tindall, from Orange, appeared before the association’s Conduct Review Commission for engaging in misleading, deceptive, dishonest and fraudulent conduct when obtaining life cover.
Meanwhile, the FPA has expelled Shylesh Sriranjan for cheating during a Certified Financial Planner exam.
The Conduct Review Commission found Mr Sriranjan, from Melbourne, breached the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice by using information obtained from another exam candidate.
FPA CEO Dante De Gori says the association takes code breaches seriously because they undermine the reputation of all members.
“The Conduct Review Commission has deemed this expulsion to be appropriate for the protection of the profession, particularly its public standing and the confidence of the public in its members,” he said.
“Expulsion from FPA membership includes loss of access to a number of benefits.”
