FPA launches academic grants
The Financial Planning Association (FPA) will offer academic research grants of up to $5000 as it strengthens its ties with universities.
The grants support universities that offer approved degrees for the Certified Financial Planner program. There are currently 15 universities, while others are seeking accreditation.
FPA CEO Mark Rantall says talks with senior academics show research is essential to underpin quality education.
“Financial support from the profession is the missing piece in the equation.
“Consequently, we have initiated the seed funding for this inaugural round of research grants and invite our professional partners to join us in this important initiative.
“We believe the funding will be just the start of a strong investment in universities by the profession.”
The first round of grants will be awarded in March after a two-stage application process.
Expressions of interest will be accepted until December 8.
