FPA, Griffith University introduce online journal

The Financial Planning Association (FPA) and Griffith Business School will co-publish an online academic financial planning journal as part of efforts to improve research and standards in the industry.

The Financial Planning Research Journal will be published twice a year, in September and March.

It will incorporate six peer-reviewed academic articles on the industry.

“This journal is part of our overall strategy to partner with the academic community to promote financial planning as an academic discipline,” FPA CEO Mark Rantall said. “It is a direct response to what both academics and practitioners have recommended through the [FPA] Financial Planning Education Council.”

Griffith Business School, which is part of Griffith University, hopes the collaboration will benefit the industry.

“The journal is a key initiative at a crucial time for the industry, and will provide a focal point for research around financial planning that can be used to inform debate and policy, and ultimately raise standards across the industry,” Discipline Head of Finance and Financial Planning Mark Brimble said.
