Fit and healthy customers will be rewarded with life insurance discounts of up to 20% under a new policy benefit unveiled by Suncorp subsidiary Asteron.

The Healthy Plus option rewards Asteron Lifeguard Life Cover policyholders with a discounted premium should they meet certain health criteria based on measures including blood testing and the body mass index.

The discount is continued for the life of the policy if customers supply key indicators from their general practitioner each year, while a smaller discount is offered to those who choose not to supply updates.

“Our research reveals that a primary customer consideration is finding an insurer that cares beyond the premium,” GM Jordan Hawke said.

The new discount offer follows a customer health and wellbeing program released by the life insurer last year.
