AMP has appointed former IAG MD and CEO Mike Wilkins to the board as a non-executive director.

Mr Wilkins has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services in Australia and Asia.

Previous roles include being CEO of insurer Promina Group and MD of asset manager Tyndall Australia.

AMP Chairman Catherine Brenner says Mr Wilkins brings significant knowledge of the industry and prudential regulation.

The life insurer has also appointed University of Queensland Chancellor Peter Varghese as a non-executive director.

He recently retired as secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Ms Brenner says Mr Varghese has extensive experience in facilitating trade and international partnerships.
