CommInsure speeding up claim payments

CommInsure says it has speeded up its trauma claims service, with 62% of applications accepted within 24 hours through the FastTrack program.

This equates to more than $46 million in benefits paid, while 84% of cases are settled within 48 hours, according to GM Retail Advice Tim Browne.

“The FastTrack trauma and terminal illness service involves a dedicated rapid-response claims manager reviewing all eligible claims with CommInsure’s expert medical team on the day the paperwork is received,” he said.

“This has dramatically reduced the turnaround time from receipt of a completed claims form and supporting documentation to a claim decision being made.”

According to General Cologne Re, the industry average for paying a trauma claim is 93 days from notification to admission of liability, Mr Browne says.

“Our aim is to turn around the perception of insurance being too hard, with a quick and simple process of fast-tracking claims,” he said.

The FastTrack trauma service was launched last November following the success of a similar income protection model.
