CommInsure picks up Tasmanian business
CommInsure has won a life insurance mandate from Tasmanian-based Retirements Benefits Fund (RBF).
The public sector superannuation fund was self-insuring and a CommInsure spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au it had been helping with the transfer of policies to the external insurer.
CommInsure will be providing death, total and permanent disability as well as income protection for the fund’s 62,000 members.
The CommInsure spokesman would not confirm the annual premium for the mandate other than saying it “represents a significant premium” for the insurer.
RBF CEO Philip Mussared says the transition to CommInsure occurred in mid-January.
“The transition from self-insurance to external group insurance is a first step in the RBF board’s strategy for the modernisation of the insurance offering to Tasmanian Accumulation Scheme members,” he said.
CommInsure was selected as the insurance provider because of its heritage, Mr Mussared says.
