Code specialist to head FPA conduct committee

June Smith has been appointed Chairman of the Financial Planning Association’s (FPA) Conduct Review Commission.

She has been the commission’s deputy chairman for the past seven years and steps up to replace Dimity Kingsford Smith, who held the role from 2007.

June Smith is also CEO of the Code Compliance Monitoring Committee and GM of Code Compliance and Monitoring at the Financial Ombudsman Service.

FPA CEO Mark Rantall says her appointment comes at a significant time in the financial planning industry.

“Having an independent governance framework is integral to ensuring financial advisers do the right thing and act in their clients’ best interests, providing high-quality advice to their

clients,” he said.

“The FPA looks forward to working with Dr Smith to continue to uphold the standards of its members.”
