ClearView names banker to fill new chief of staff role 

Life insurer ClearView Wealth has hired Sharon Leong to fill the newly created position of Chief of Staff, reporting to MD Nadine Gooderick. 

Ms Leong was most recently with Bank of Queensland, as Executive Business Manager to the Group Executive, Retail Banking and CEO ME Bank. 

Before Bank of Queensland Ms Leong held a number of senior positions at Westpac Group including Strategy and Business Manager to the GM Platforms and Investments at the lender’s subsidiary, BT Financial Group. 

As Chief of Staff she will work with the executive leadership team to oversee the execution of the group’s “refreshed” strategy and business plan, and also provide business management and advisory support to the leadership team, ClearView Wealth said in a statement today. 

“She has excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, and will help drive strategic outcomes as we work towards achieving our FY26 goals,” Ms Gooderick said. 

ClearView Wealth has said growing its share of the life insurance market is a focus after group underlying net profit grew a record 41% to $36.5 million for the year to June 30. 

Its core life insurance division achieved a 38% rise in underlying net profit to $40.4 million. New life business annualised premium rose 25% to $25.2 million while gross premiums gained 9% to $325.1 million, giving the listed life insurer a 9.2% share of the retail market.  

The business is now aiming for a market share of 12-14% and gross premiums of $400 million by FY2025/26.
