Canstar hails NobleOak and ANZ direct income protection

NobleOak and ANZ’s direct income protection products have been awarded five stars by consumer ratings group Canstar.

The former scored 78 out of 80, while ANZ achieved 46 out of 80.

NobleOak’s Premium Life Direct Income Protection is competitively priced and offers a number of leading features, according to Canstar.

It is the only product in the direct market to offer a benefit period up to 65 with indexation and in which pre-existing conditions are not excluded, the review says.

It is also the only product offering a partial disability benefit.

NobleOak CEO Anthony Brown says the life insurance industry has been slow to move online.

“This is clearly changing quickly as people become more web-savvy and awareness of the need for life insurance across the community increases,” he said.

“There is much stronger willingness to make a life insurance purchasing decision online without a financial adviser than in the past, and this trend continues.”

ANZ’s Direct Income Protection product also achieved five stars last year.

“ANZ’s particularly strong pricing made it a price leader in 10 profiles, including females in their 40s in white, light blue and medium blue-collar occupations, and females in their late 50s in white and light blue-collar occupations,” Canstar says.
