Canstar hails ClearView and OnePath value

ClearView and OnePath have been named Canstar Outstanding Value winners in the product ratings group’s annual life insurance awards.

Canstar assessed products from 13 life insurers across all areas of cover.

ClearView was praised for its total and permanent disability (TPD) policy, offering $5 million sum insured with a good exclusions policy.

The insurer also won the income protection and TPD categories.

OnePath’s trauma cover was singled out for its greater coverage of standalone events including breast cancer, heart attack, stroke and damage to the nervous system.

The cover also allows for insureds to reinstate their trauma policies following claims, with limited conditions, up to 100%.

MLC and Zurich won the term life award, with the former’s 15% reduction in premiums noted.

Zurich also reduced its premiums – by 6% – last year for under-55s, on both term life and TPD products.

The trauma award went to AIA Australia and OnePath, with the former’s coverage for standalone events a factor in its result.

ClearView also won the income protection category, while TAL’s 24-hour coverage worldwide was singled out for praise.

OnePath and MLC were winners of the packaged life award.
